You do not need a manuscript — you need a clear ask
People wait for a 'full brief' that never arrives. Meanwhile the meeting got scheduled anyway. A short brief works when it answers who, why, and what happens if you succeed.

The blank slide problem is usually a clarity problem. Designers get blamed; the real issue is nobody wrote down the outcome. AI does not remove the need for judgment — it removes the need to manually build slide three through eleven from scratch.
The four-line brief
Copy this into the prompt box and fill in the blanks:
That is enough for a credible first pass. You are not writing copy for every slide — you are setting guardrails so the draft does not invent a strategy you do not have.
When a sentence beats a paragraph
"Board update on EU expansion, need approval for Q3 hire plan, include pipeline chart from CRM, 12 slides max." That is a good brief. Compare it to three paragraphs of background nobody will read — the model will mirror your verbosity.
- Name the room, not just the company.
- Say what to skip if the source doc is long.
- Pick Standard when the sequence matters; Smart when the topic is exploratory.
After generate: the ten-minute pass
Read titles only, left to right. If the story breaks at slide six, fix the outline or move slides — do not polish fonts while the narrative is wrong. Then do a numbers pass, then a notes pass for the presenter.
Pageworks keeps you on a 16:9 canvas the whole time. You are never trapped in a one-shot preview that cannot export. Treat the first draft as clay, not marble.
Common mistakes
- Brief says 'make it impressive' with no audience — you get generic filler.
- No ask slide — meeting ends with nods and no owner.
- Regenerating instead of editing one weak section — burns time and quota.
- Forgetting speaker notes, then reading bullets aloud word for word.
