Pageworks vs. Gamma

Gamma and Pageworks both need to be evaluated beyond the first generated screen. Gamma supports browser presentation and file export; Pageworks offers source-based drafting with Pro editable PowerPoint. Compare the same source and recipient task. “Gamma cannot export PPTX” is not a valid reason to switch.

Worked example

Gamma supports PowerPoint export, and its documentation describes editable tables. The choice is therefore not simply 'web page versus real PPTX'. Test a document with a long title, a three-row table and a source footnote. Compare the browser reading experience first, then ask a recipient to change one table value in the exported file. Pageworks Pro adds editable export to its source-and-outline workflow, but complex elements can still be images. Let the required handoff determine the winner.

Pageworks publishes this comparison. The product references below support the feature descriptions; the example is a workflow you can repeat with your own files.

Workflow questionAlternativePageworks
Where does the work happen?Gamma combines browser presentation creation and sharing with PowerPoint export.A separate browser workspace, from source material through outline and editing.
What should the trial prove?Reading by link and later editing of the exported table are separate requirements.Up to 50 slides in Pro; test the needed edits in its PowerPoint export, including complex elements.

A comparison you can reproduce

Use the same approved source, target length and delivery requirement in both tools. Record the product, plan, application and test date. A trial account and a paid subscription may expose different features; compare the configuration you would actually buy.

  1. Inspect the first draft before correcting it. Count unsupported claims and missing source qualifications separately from visual issues.
  2. Perform the same recipient edit in both exports. Keep screenshots and the files so another reviewer can repeat the check.
  3. Choose by the requirements that matter to your team. Keep generation time, active correction time and total subscription commitment separate.

Original source and product documentation

For a browser-first presentation, inspect navigation, reading flow and how a colleague reviews the current version. For a client-owned file, inspect text, tables, charts and fonts after export. If only one delivery route matters, give it priority rather than averaging unrelated features. A seven-slide proposal can be enough to expose the differences that affect your job. Keep the correction log and choose on the completed handoff. This comparison is published by Pageworks and does not report a measured winner from a head-to-head trial.
