A bar chart compares discrete categories using bar lengths on a shared scale. Use vertical columns for short labels and horizontal bars for longer category names.
Up to 200 data rows, 8 numeric series and 512 KiB. Include unique column headers. Choose a decimal point or comma; thousands separators and currency symbols are not accepted. Enter zero explicitly: an empty numeric cell is an error.
Paste a table or choose a CSV file. Use the first column for category labels and the next columns for numeric series. Include a header row.
Review number errors before building your chart. Choose vertical or horizontal bars and add a title and axis labels.
Download a PNG, or continue in the app to turn your editable chart into a complete presentation.
Each row is a category; each numeric column is a series. The working sample compares two products across four quarters. Replace the sample with your own data.
In the example, Product A rises from 12 in Q1 to 24 in Q4: an increase of 12, or 100%. Product B reaches 22 in Q4. Both series use the same units and a zero baseline.
| Quarter | Product A | Product B |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 | 12 | 9 |
| Q2 | 18 | 14 |
| Q3 | 16 | 20 |
| Q4 | 24 | 22 |
Compare products, survey answers or team results using the same unit of measurement.
Show totals by month, quarter or year. Keep the periods and units consistent.
Use horizontal bars when category names need more room. Bar lengths should remain easy to compare.
Bar lengths represent values. Keep a zero baseline, label your units, and use the same scale for values you want to compare. A missing value is different from zero: check the data before exporting. For a bar chart, categories are discrete; a histogram instead groups numeric observations into intervals.
